BEST strengthens container-handling capacity – Barcelona

Hutchison Ports BEST has commissioned two new ship-to-shore cranes at its terminal in the Port of Barcelona, bringing its quay crane fleet to 15 super Post-Panamax units.

Designed to serve vessels carrying containers across as many as 26 rows, the new equipment will give BEST greater flexibility when handling larger ships while supporting improvements in productivity and operational resilience.

The investment forms part of the terminal’s wider expansion programme, which includes additional automated container blocks and further quay equipment. Its eight-track rail facility also connects Barcelona with major Spanish and European logistics corridors.
