On 19 June 2026, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) launched the 2026 Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Transport call, making €1.1 billion available for infrastructure projects across the European Union and the associated countries Ukraine and Moldova.
The call supports projects contributing to the completion and modernisation of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), with a focus on sustainable, smart and resilient transport infrastructure. Funding opportunities cover a broad range of areas, including rail infrastructure, inland waterways, digitalisation, military mobility and alternative fuels infrastructure.
Of particular interest for ports are the funding opportunities available for electricity charging infrastructure in maritime and inland ports, as well as projects supporting the deployment of alternative fuels and the electrification of transport operations.
The initiative forms part of the EU’s broader efforts to strengthen connectivity, improve interoperability and support the decarbonisation of the transport sector. The call is also expected to contribute to the development of more efficient multimodal transport networks and the reinforcement of strategic transport corridors across Europe.
Applications can be submitted through the Funding & Tenders Portal until 6 October 2026. Successful projects are expected to be selected following an evaluation process managed by the European Commission and CINEA.
