On July 10th, FEPORT attended the 75th Trade Contact Group meeting where industry stakeholders were provided with the opportunity to discuss a series of impactful adaptations to the current customs regulatory framework with the European Commission.
For example, the EUR 150 de minimis exemption from import duties for e-commerce consignment was abolished earlier this month while implementation challenges with respect to the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism persist and an expansion of CBAM to additional downstream products is under discussion.
DG TAXUD, moreover, provided detailed presentations on the outcome of the trilogues on the UCC reform, explaining, for example, in further detail what trade can expect as regards to the functioning of the Data Hub and EU Customs Authority (EUCA) and the drafting process of secondary legislation once the text enters into force.
