DG TAXUD consults trade on impacts US tariff policy – Brussels

On June 13th, FEPORT attended the 70th plenary session of the trade contact group (TCG) in which economic operators discuss customs and trade related matters with DG TAXUD.

The session mainly focussed on trade diversion as a consequence of the ongoing US tariff policy but also featured updates on CBAM and the EU-India FTA negotiations.

FEPORT closely monitors the topic of trade diversion as it is crucial to assess how the current economic tensions affect trade flows and by extension cargo flows passing through ports in the EU, even more so as some elements of the Fit for 55 package (EU ETS and FuelEU) are already exerting pressure on the competitive position of European seaports.
