European Commission opens registration for Innovation Fund stakeholder consultation – Brussels

In May 2026, the European Commission opened registrations for the stakeholder consultation event on the 2026 Innovation Fund Calls for Proposals, which will take place in Brussels on 19 June 2026.

The Innovation Fund, financed through revenues from the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), aims to support the demonstration and commercialisation of innovative net-zero and low-carbon technologies across industrial sectors.

According to the Commission, the consultation event will provide an overview of the progress achieved under the Innovation Fund and gather stakeholders’ feedback on the design of future calls for proposals. Discussions are expected to address policy developments, support mechanisms and lessons learned from previous funding rounds.

The initiative is particularly relevant for the maritime and port sectors given the increasing investment needs linked to electrification, alternative fuels infrastructure and operational decarbonisation. In this context, European funding instruments are expected to play an important role in supporting the transition of ports and logistics chains.

FEPORT welcomes the organisation of this stakeholder consultation and looks forward to contributing to the discussions on future support mechanisms and investment priorities relevant for the port and maritime sectors.
