FEPORT Attends 72nd TCG Meeting – Brussels

FEPORT Secretariat attended the 72nd meeting of the Trade Contact Group (TCG) held in Brussels on 20 November 2025. The discussions focused mainly on the state of play of the Union Customs Code (UCC) implementation and the final steps needed to complete the deployment of the remaining digital customs systems by the end of 2025.

The Commission underlined that most components of the UCC work programme are now close to completion. However, a number of elements still require attention, notably Centralised Clearance for Import (CCI), Temporary Storage, national import systems, and the overall readiness of economic operators to adapt to the new IT environment. These aspects are particularly relevant for port stakeholders due to their impact on operational continuity, interoperability between Member States, and the smooth handling of import and export flows.

The meeting also included exchanges on simplification and the reduction of administrative burden. Participants pointed to the need for clearer and more efficient customs procedures, improved usability of EU digital tools and greater consistency in the interpretation and application of customs rules.

An update was provided on preparations for the next phase of CBAM, including upcoming implementing and delegated acts. Links with customs processes and data requirements were briefly highlighted.

FEPORT will continue to monitor these developments, especially the finalisation of UCC digital systems and their practical implications for port operations.
