On September 2nd and 3rd, FEPORT attended the 2026 edition of the SMM conference in Hamburg, the globally renowned Trade Exhibition focussing on the maritime industry comprising of shipbuilding, machinery and maritime technology. This year´s edition, which took place in the Hamburg Messe and Congress exhibition halls, hosted over 2,300 exhibitors and 50,000 trade participants.
FEPORT joined the stand of France Cyber Maritime (FCM) at the French Pavillion to promote the EU-funded SAFE DIGIMAR project which seeks to enhance the cyber resilience of the maritime sector and ports while assisting companies with their compliance with EU cybersecurity directive NIS 2. The stand was also supported by FCM member companies Alcyconie and DIATEAM.
During the Exhibition, FCM and FEPORT connected with several companies in the maritime sector as well as sectoral and cluster associations to discuss the challenges faced by the sector when it comes to cyber threats, regulatory compliance and mitigation measures.
The SAFE DIGIMAR projects seeks to respond to the increasing need of maritime sectors to enhance their cyber resilience on not only the technical level but also through measures related to governance and training. To achieve these aims, the project is setting up and expanding existing capabilities to help companies in case they face a cyberattack, offering support to companies that need to check files for malware while developing tools to ease companies’ compliance with legislation such as NIS 2.
