FEPORT participates in TOC Europe 2026 discussions on port digitalisation and resilience – Hamburg

On May 19th , 2026, FEPORT Secretary General Lamia Kerdjoudj participated in TOC Europe 2026 in Hamburg, where she intervened during the session “The Port & Terminal Leadership Forum: Understanding the Real Value of the Port Digitalisation Benchmark”.

The discussions focused on the increasing digitalisation of port operations and logistics chains, as well as the challenges and opportunities linked to the deployment of digital tools across the maritime and port ecosystem. Exchanges also addressed the growing importance of data sharing, operational coordination and supply chain visibility in improving the efficiency and reliability of port operations.

During the panel discussion, Lamia Kerdjoudj underlined that digitalisation can no longer be approached solely from a technological or efficiency perspective. In the current geopolitical context, she stressed the importance of also considering resilience, redundancy and cybersecurity risks associated with increasingly digitalised logistics chains and port operations.

Discussions further highlighted that ports are undergoing major transformations driven by automation, digitalisation and artificial intelligence. In this context, participants exchanged views on the importance of adopting more human-centric approaches and ensuring that the evolution of digital technologies is accompanied by adequate reskilling and adaptation of the interaction between human operators and automated systems.

The panel also touched upon operational challenges affecting the efficiency of maritime logistics chains, including vessel schedule reliability, truck appointment systems, rail reliability, vessel call optimisation and data sharing between stakeholders operating upstream and downstream of ports.

On the margins of the event, FEPORT also held exchanges with representatives from EUROGATE Group and HHLA Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG on current developments affecting ports, terminals and European logistics chains.
