On September 23rd, 2025, FEPORT Secretary General, Ms Lamia Kerdjoudj participated to a panel discussion in the framework of Porto Maritime week held in the Port of Leixões.
The session entitled “European strategy for shipping” was moderated by Mr António Belmar da Costa (executive director of AGEPOR) who asked the representatives of CLECAT, ESPO, ECASBA, FEPORT and ECSA to provide their thoughts about the current challenges in the EU Maritime and port sectors.
FEPORT Secretary General underlined the importance for the EU to adopt an EU Ports Strategy that focuses on competitiveness and resilience. The strategy should not be just defensive but propose real means to boost the port sector at a moment it is facing major transformations.
Ms Kerdjoudj also reminded that FDI will be crucial for the EU. It will be therefore important to send a positive signal to foreign investors otherwise there is a risk that they prefer other markets.
Finally, she reiterated the need to invest both in physical and digital infrastructure to remain competitive and resilient.
