Fifth Annual Stakeholders’ Conference 2019

The fifth edition of the stakeholders’ conference year is a particular one as FEPORT is celebrating its 25th anniversary and we are also about to start a “five years’ journey” with new European Commissioners and the newly elected or re-elected Members of the European Parliament.

We wish to have a constructive dialogue with all institutional actors as well as with our sister organizations to the benefit of the EU. The EU needs a vision that echoes the expectations of its industries, citizens and workers and that unleashes their full potential. In the framework of this fifth edition of the stakeholders’ conference, we have decided to look back to the past to better prepare the future. The EU shipbuilding industry illustrates in many respects the limits of policies which are too EU centric thus ignoring that other regions of the world have other geostrategic priorities and different rules.

The “Green Deal” and the future of work are also high on the agenda of many industries who are certainly ready to mobilize their efforts to propose solutions but we all need an active listening from EU institutions to identify the best means to decarbonize economies while preserving competitiveness and creating jobs.
