FEPORT Contributes to the Debate on the Future EU Ports Strategy at EUROMARITIME 2026 – Marseille

FEPORT has been invited to participate to EUROMARITIME, one of the European top 5 maritime cluster exhibitions gathering all segments of the industry.

From the construction of new ships to the conversion of old fleets, from port redevelopment to faster development of marine renewable energies, initiatives to promote ecological transformation and decarbonisation abound in port areas and towns.

As key interfaces between land and sea, EU ports are at the heart of strategies and ambitions particularly in the current geopolitical context.

Marseille, was the port of call of EUROMARITIME given with its gateway role. FEPORT Secretary General, Ms Lamia Kerdjoudj had the opportunity during two days to have many good exchanges and also participate to a panel discussion on the upcoming EU Maritime Industrial and Ports Strategies moderated by  Thibaud TEILLARD.

FEPORT Secretary General, Ms Lamia Kerdjoudj had the opportunity to underline the importance that the future EU Ports is not just defensive. “We need an offensive strategy that places competitiveness at the heart of the priorities” she said.

“We cannot surrender and accept that EU Ports, which are going major transformations to implement many public policies in the field of the fight against drug trafficking, decarbonisation, energy transition, fight against cyber threats besides continuing their transhipment roles for cargo and passengers, lose their competitiveness” added FEPORT Secretary General.

“We are not alone, EU Ports are surrounded by non-competitors which are doing better in terms of attractiveness, and which do not have the same legal frameworks and rules to apply (environment, permitting, State Aid etc..).This should be the priority of the EU Ports Strategy: our ports should remain attractive to investors who apply our rules otherwise they will invest outside the EU. The private sector in ports is ready to play its role provided that the legal framework is stable and the return on investment is possible.” concluded Ms Kerdjoudj

EUROMARITIME has also the launching platform for SafeDIGIMAR Project which involves FEPORT Federazione del Mare and France Cyber Maritime. The three organisations have been chosen by the EU Commission to promote the implementation of NIS2 in the maritime sector over a period of three years and EUROMARITIME was the launching platform where the banner of the project has been deployed for the first time !

Bon vent et bonne mer to SafeDIGIMAR!
